Data deletion
How to stop CrowdRelay reading your Facebook Page or Instagram account, and how to have what it stored deleted.
Last updated
Stop us reading your account
Sign in to the console, open Settings, then Connections, and press Disconnect on the Facebook or Instagram card. We stop reading that account straight away and delete the access Meta gave us for it, so nothing more comes in.
You can also do it from Facebook: remove CrowdRelay in your Facebook settings, under Business integrations (or Apps and websites). That works even if you can no longer sign in to the console: Meta tells us, and we disconnect on our side as described below.
Delete what we already stored
Disconnecting stops new reading. To delete what we already took from the account (comments, the messages we sent for you, and post and ad numbers), email contact@crowdrelay.music and tell us the name of your Facebook Page or Instagram account. We answer and finish the deletion within 30 days, and it reaches everything built from that data, including our search and the notes our writing tools made from it. A band can also delete single fans or its whole list in the console at any time.
If you are a fan and want a comment of yours, or a message a band sent you through us, removed, write to the same address and name the band. The band decides about its own list; we pass your request on and carry it out within the same 30 days.
When you remove the app on Facebook
When someone removes CrowdRelay in their Facebook settings, Meta tells us. If they also ask
there for their data to be deleted, Meta calls our data-deletion callback,
/v1/public/connections/meta/data-deletion on the band’s CrowdRelay server.
Either way we check that the request really comes from Meta, disconnect every Facebook and
Instagram connection tied to that person and delete the access we held.
For a deletion request we then hand Meta a confirmation code and a link to a status page,
/v1/public/connections/meta/data-deletion/{code}, which Meta shows
you. The page says when your request arrived and what we did: either that we disconnected
your account and deleted the access, or that we held no connection for you, so there was
nothing to delete. To have the data already stored removed as well, email us as above and
quote the code.
What we keep afterwards
A short record that the request happened: the confirmation code, the date, the ID Meta used for you in our app, and how many connections were removed. That is what lets the status page answer you.
When a fan is deleted, we erase their name, email address and sign-in details. What stays is a tombstone: a row with no name and no email, marked so nobody writes to that person again, kept next to the record of their consent and any ticket they paid for, so the audit trail and the accounts still add up. It holds no message and no comment.
